Harvey Performance Company Acquires Micro 100

January 15, 2019

Rowley, Massachusetts and Meridian, Idaho – Harvey Performance Company (“Harvey Performance” or the “company”), a leading provider of specialized cutting tools for precision machining applications through industry leading brands Harvey Tool and Helical Solutions, today announced the acquisition of Micro 100.  Based in Meridian, Idaho, Micro 100 is a leading innovator in turning tools, specializing in internal boring, grooving and threading tools and milling tools.

Micro 100’s position as a manufacturer of outstanding products in both the turning and milling categories makes it an ideal addition to the Harvey Performance portfolio of brands. Its products provide a strong complement to Harvey Tool’s miniature and specialty profile tooling and Helical Solutions’ high performance end mill selection. Because of this, the addition of Micro 100 significantly increases the company’s market opportunity.

“We are on a journey to assemble and build a world-class company made up of outstanding brands and product lines supported by incredible people,” said Pete Jenkins CEO of Harvey Performance Company.  “The addition of Micro 100 products to the Harvey Performance portfolio will help accelerate our ability to do just that. Micro 100 has a demonstrated dedication to quality products, excellent reputation and outstanding service – all traits that are consistent with the Harvey Performance way of doing business.”

“The Harvey Tool and Helical Solutions Brands serve some of the most advanced and demanding end users in the industry,” said Jerry Gleisner, Senior Vice President of Sales for Harvey Performance Company. “Micro 100’s product line, particularly their strong focus in turning tooling, will allow us to offer additional capabilities and value to our distributors and end users.”

Moving forward, the Harvey Performance team will focus on scaling and growing each of the company’s three brands. “We will continue to manufacture Helical Solutions product in our Gorham, Maine facility and Micro 100 product in the Meridian, Idaho location,” said Brian McKahan, Vice President of Operations of the Harvey Performance Company. “We have plans for significant investment and growth across all of our brands.”

The acquisition of Micro 100 better positions Harvey Performance and its brands to compete and grow.  “One thing that is a constant in our business is change, with regular consolidation amongst our competitors, our distributors and our end users,” said Jenkins. “We will continue to look to expand our product portfolio through acquisition.  Scale matters, and we believe that – through thoughtful assembly of brands and products – we can enhance the end users’ productivity and increasingly earn their business.”

Harvey Performance Company is backed by global growth investor Summit Partners.  Jay Pauley, Summit Partners Managing Director and member of the Harvey Performance board, reiterated the strategic importance of this acquisition.  “Micro 100 is a growth business with products that complement the Harvey Performance suite extremely well.  We are excited to welcome the Micro 100 team to the Harvey Performance Company Family.”

Harvey Tool and Helical Solutions are now brought together under the umbrella of Harvey Performance Company, the brands' new parent company.

May 8, 2017

Harvey Performance Company, the parent company of the Harvey Tool and Helical Solutions brands, was launched today in an effort to streamline communications and better support its customers and business partners.

Harvey Tool Company is known for its highly specialized hard-to-find micro cutting tools. Helical Solutions has built a reputation for its high performance custom and standard end mills. Both brands now exist under the umbrella of Harvey Performance Company.

Like the two brands it represents, Harvey Performance Company will maintain a dedication to providing world class products, services, and solutions that increase productivity for customers in the manufacturing and metalworking industries. Additionally, it will continue on a proud history of doing business the right way with fast, friendly, knowledgeable customer service.

“Since Harvey Tool acquired Helical Solutions about a year and a half ago, we have worked hard to come together as one team while also maintaining each brands’ unique character and identity, established business relationships, and earned reputation,” said Garth Ely, Harvey Performance Company Vice President of Marketing. “We feel that the launch of Harvey Performance Company is another large step toward achieving this goal.”

Harvey Tool Voted #1 Top End Mill Brand

Harvey Tool has been voted the #1 Top End Mill Brand by participants of the 2016 CNC Cookbook End Mill Survey

December 19, 2017

Harvey Tool is proud to announce that for the second consecutive year, it has been voted #1 Most Popular End Mill Brand by participants of the 2016 CNC Cookbook End Mill Survey, a questionnaire meant to gauge machinists’ most preferred manufacturers.

Of the nearly 1,300 votes cast for more than 90 different end mill brands, Harvey Tool earned the top spot with 90.3 percent of voters listing the Rowley-based company as a top choice end mill manufacturer. Following behind were Niagara (whom Harvey Tool tied with for the top spot last year), OSG, Accupro, Garr, SGS, Kennametal, and Micro100.

While the survey focused on overall brand popularity, it also asked respondents to rank end mill brands based on the categories of “combined value and performance” and “highest performance.” Harvey Tool was named the top choice for both categories, tallying 7.9 percent of votes for highest performance and 6.8 percent for combined value and performance. Simply, participants voted Harvey Tool the first choice for tools if money was no factor, while also listing them as having the best balance of performance and value.

Helical Solutions, whom Harvey Tool acquired in 2015, also performed well in the CNC Cookbook End Mill Survey, ranking in the top position within the Tier 2 list of end mill brands. This marks the first year that Helical has been named and ranked in this annual survey.

“We’re extremely proud of this accomplishment as it works to affirm the hard work and commitment our team exhibits every day for our customers,” said Harvey Tool Vice President of Marketing Garth Ely. “The results of this survey clearly express that Harvey Tool is a top choice for machinists, and there’s no better feeling than that.”

“Each member of our team played a vital role in making this possible,” Ely said. “It’s truly a cross functional effort here, which makes an accomplishment of this magnitude so much greater.”

“For us, this is just another accomplishment in what has been a tremendous year of growth and achievement,” said Harvey Tool Senior Vice President of Sales Jerry Gleisner. “To see both Harvey Tool and Helical Solutions perform so well is only added motivation for us to continue to push for an even better product for our customers in 2017.”
